Sunday musings at altitude.

I am writing this post whilst cruising at 5000(?) feet on my way back from a few days in Slovenia. But more on that later…

Wow what a week. So busy I have not had chance to blog, so ‘She Gets Around’ is quite quickly becoming a month of Sunday musing posts. Back to it next week I promise.

Freelance life

The week started in London as I alluded to in last week’s post with a busy couple of days of meetings, training and events.

On Monday I attended the Female Entrepreneurship Association’s Christmas Party, where I met the lovely Carrie, the hardworking lady behind FEA and lots more fab inspiring women. It was great to put names to faces and come away feeling pumped and ready for a fab 2016 in business!

I had a brilliant time training students at UCL with Jonathan from UpSkillforLife on ‘Building your brand online’. Excited to deliver the same training to students next year and hopefully find a few more willing participants at other universities too.

On Tuesday I met with some of the team at Bare Minerals and was treated to a makeover. I felt very glamorous after, with new smooth skin and pink lips. More on their travel make up tips coming soon.

My time in London ended with an awesome event with the Trek America team. They never fail to bring fun to their events, as they do on their trips too. I even got my caricature done, what do you think? I’m told it brings out my nose?! Hmmm.

Possibly the best bit of news this week was that I have been featured as National Geographic Travellers blogger of the month. Woweee!

Honoured to be featured by such a world renowned organisation, I hope this is the start of bigger things to come. Thank you to everyone who regularly reads this blog, you all mean the world to me and it is for you I keep going! 🙂

Just going to brush past this one as I am still behind… :/

Blogs I love this week

  • On my Slovenia trip I have been hanging out with my new travel buddy Wanderlust Chloe who has a great blog you should definitely check out.
  • My mate Macca Macca has been creating some brilliant videos recently on his joint blog a Brit and a Broad, including this video from our trip to Denmark which I feature in just a little (*I spent most of my time sticking my head in the way of his camera ☺)

  • Eileen from Pure Wander wrote about her trip to Cornwall for Room Auction, including a review of the beautiful Llawnroc Hotel (Cornwall spelt backwards) which is worth a look too.

I’ve been getting to grips with SnapChat on my trip to Slovenia. If you get on there quick you will catch my snaps from today. You can find me as Jlowthrop (same as on Twitter and Instagram).

Slovenia

And so onto my trip… Of course I will be writing lots more about my 5 days in Slovenia, so look out for those posts coming soon.

In short I have eaten and drunk my body weight in food. Five to eight course meals with wine, for lunch and dinner every day, not to mention breakfast plus honey, olive oil and more wine tastings in between. Wait till you see some of the food though. Slovenia is a feast of delicious food and wine that so few people know about.

When we weren’t eating and drinking we got to visit some magical places, from the mirrored Lake Bohinj, the Vogel ski resort, the land of hayracks in the Dolenjska region and gorgeous rolling hills filled with wineries in Brda.

Slovenia has surprised and amazed throughout the week. It is a hugely underrated country with so much for travellers and tourists to enjoy. Can’t wait to tell you more about it.

Well that’s all for this week folks. Next week will be quite different, focusing on family time in Lincolnshire and catching up on LOTS of work.
