Top things to do around Beautiful Lincoln
You don’t have to get on a plane or drive for hours to reach a great holiday destination. In the UK there are tonnes of fantastic coastal resorts right on our doorstep and one of the best is Lincolnshire.
Within easy reach of York, Leeds, Sheffield, Derby, Leicester and Peterborough, Lincolnshire is a hidden gem on the east coast that can be easily reached in around an hour and a half. So there’s no need to plan your trip weeks in advance or set aside a whole day for travelling – simply pack up the car and go.
If you’ve never been to Lincolnshire, you’ll have no idea how much there is to do there. Whether a great holiday for you means playing on the beach with the kids, ambling through the countryside or exploring a new city, you can do it all here.
Just a short drive from Golden Sands Caravan Park you’ll find the historic city of Lincoln – a city that has more than enough attractions to keep you coming back for more. If you’re feeling energetic, start your visit tackling Steep Hill which, you guessed it, is one of the steepest hills in the town. Whether you dash to the top or embark on a leisurely stroll, this cobbled path should be at the top of your Lincoln bucket list.
For some stunning views of the Lincolnshire countryside, don’t miss climbing to the top of Lincolnshire Cathedral. It’s no less than 338 steps to the top but don’t let this put you off – you’ll get some spectacular views of the city and this alone is well worth the effort.
Lincolnshire is also home to the Red Arrows – the world class Royal Air Force Aerobatic team who captivate millions of people across the world with their flying stunts. If you’re eager to see them in action, catch them at the Waddington Air Show on 6th and 7th July 2013.
Today I saw the Red Arrows at Cleethorpes Air Show… definitely worth watching.
And don’t leave Lincolnshire without taking a stroll down to Marblethorpe Beach, which is only a stone’s throw away from the holiday park. This blue flag beach has some of the best golden sand on the east coast and it’s been a firm family favourite for generations. If you fancy a dip in the sea, you can also do so knowing a lifeguard will be there at peak times to keep your family safe.
